Sermon: Consider It Pure Joy!
December 8,2019
James 1:2-4 New International Version (NIV)
Trials and Temptations
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
As Christians it’s inevitable that we encounter trials and temptations. Most of the time we do not want to experience it, but as James said we should welcome it with joy. It is part of our continued walk with God, it will not stop so we should always be prepared.
We should pray and ask God for wisdom and not doubt God’s faithfulness. When God promised Abraham that he will have multiple descendants, Abraham believed but listened to Sarah to sleep with Hagar. That mistake has affected generations to come.
When we ask for wisdom. trust and believe in God’s plan, because the promise is that we will become complete and lacking in nothing.
